The Moroccan Paralympians have just distinguished themselves in a fine manner at the Paris Paralympic Games by winning 15 medals including 3 gold, 6 silver and the same number of bronze. It was para-taekwondo that opened this series of medals, in the persons of Raja Akermach and Adouiche Ayoub in the -47 kg category K44. But it was para athletics that filled the Kingdom’s purse with no less than 13 titles including three gold in the 400m T12 by Moncef Bouja, El Haddaoui Aymane in T47 with the world record as a bonus and Fatima Zahra Idrissi in the marathon in T12, the latter having previously won the silver medal in the 1500m T12 as well as her compatriots Karim Yousra in the discus (F41), Ennourhi Meryem and her guide El Harti Abdelhadi in the marathon (T12), Nouri Azzedine and Gani Abdellah, respectively in class F34 and F53, and finally Sadni Ayoub in the 400m (T47).

For the bronze, it was Derhem Zakaria in the shot put (F33), Amoudi Saida in the shot put (F34), El Haddaoui Aymane in the 100m (T47), and the bravest of them all Chentouf El Amine who, at 43 years old and with a foot injury, through his courage and determination won third place in one of the most grueling events in athletics and sport in general… Hats off to SI Chentouf!

These achievements are the result of work and efforts made for a long time by a competent, realistic and rational team in what it undertakes, with a president who, suffering from a disability himself, is aware of what a disabled athlete can feel and therefore able to provide him with what he needs on a psychological, mental or simply human level. The president of the FRMSPSH Hamid El Aouni, it is him that we are talking about, and his staff have been able to give Moroccan Paralympism a respectable place in Moroccan society.

This federation has fought against the taboo of hiding the disabled in a corner of the house and being ashamed of it. No! It has given this category of society the status of a proud and dignified citizen, capable of bringing happiness to others and making an entire people happy. This federation has demonstrated that disability can in no way be a hindrance or obstacle to the development of the individual; on the contrary, it is an additional source of motivation.

We can only pay tribute to the various people who have contributed and continue to contribute to giving the place that individuals with disabilities deserve and changing the way others view this category of our society.

Thanks to the FRMSPSH officials: Rguioueg Abdennaceur, Taz Soukaina, Moulahhine Ibtissame, Khales Nadia, El Bardai Zineb, E l Aouni Youness, Mouhcine Ilham, Belabbas Loubna (DRH) Hajji, Fkeoui Mustapha, Ben Cheikh Mohammed, Lemlah Hicham, Alaoui Mohammed , El Hajji M’hamed, Cherkaoui Karim, Simou Youssef, to Said Lamrini (DTN) and his technical staff.

Finally, thanks to Hamid El Aouni and his steering committee for all the efforts made so that the National Flag can fly high in these World Games and see the National Anthem of the Kingdom of Morocco thundering several times on all the world channels.
