The expectations of 73% of wholesalers show a stability in the overall volume of sales for the 3rd quarter of 2024, and an increase for 18% of them, according to the High Commission for Planning (HCP).
This development would be mainly attributable to the expected increase in sales in the “Wholesale trade of food, beverages and tobacco products”, the “Wholesale trade of household goods” and the “Other specialized wholesale trade”, specifies the HCP in an information note on the quarterly economic surveys in the non-financial market services (NFMS) and wholesale trade sectors.
It is also due to the expected drop in sales in the “Wholesale of information and communication equipment” and the “Wholesale of raw agricultural products and live animals”, adds the same source.
Regarding orders planned for Q3-2024, they would be at a normal level according to 79% of business leaders, said the HCP, noting that employment would experience stability in staff numbers according to 82% of wholesalers.
In the second quarter of 2024, sales in the wholesale sector on the local market would have increased according to 28%, and remained stable for 64% of wholesalers.
This development would be mainly attributable to the increase in sales in the “Wholesale of other industrial equipment”, the “Wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco” and the “Other specialized wholesale”, and to the decrease in sales in the “Wholesale of information and communication equipment”.
Employment would have been stable according to 86% of business leaders. Merchandise stocks would have been at a normal level according to 88% of wholesalers and the observed trend in sales prices would have shown stability for 80% of business leaders and a decrease according to 11% of them.
