The parliamentarian of the movement for the province of Settat, Mohamed Hichamy, addressed a written question to the Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, on “the fate of the project to renovate regional road no. 3609 linking the new well to Settat.”
The Minister indicated in his response that the case concerns the regional road No. 3609 connecting the new well and Wasat over a length of 72 km from the kilometer point) to the 72nd kilometer point, the first 30 kilometers of which are paved.
Recalling that in 2011, construction work was underway on the road section extending from kilometer 29369 to kilometer 71933, connecting Ain Cerni and regional road No. 3606 connecting Berrechid and Settat as part of the second national rural roads program. However, the agreement was canceled in 2016 due to the company’s inability to meet the ultimatum given to it and its abandonment of the completion of the work.
Nizar Baraka added that the interests of the Ministry of Equipment and Water are updating the technical study of the road section extending from kilometer point 60845 to kilometer point 792 + 72 over a length of 11,947 km, and its work began for the year 2021 at a cost of 11.2 million dirhams. However, due to the failure of this company to comply with the requirements of the transaction concluded with it, as well as its failure to comply with the recommendations addressed to it, the transaction was canceled again on July 27, 2023. As a result, the interests The Ministry of Equipment and Water of Settat updated the technical study by adding a set of technical amendments, particularly related to technical installations and the ramp of a watercourse. The road is interrupted in places by floods. The call for tenders to complete the construction work on this road section will be announced soon for an estimated cost of around 15.5 million dirhams.
Regarding the remaining road section extending from kilometer 30 to kilometer 60845, belonging to the territorial jurisdiction of the Berrechid region, the technical study is available, according to what the minister confirmed.
This road issue revives the discussion on the road section connecting Settat and Dar Al-Shafi’i, starting from the community of Keysar, which is a vital artery that breaks the isolation of a set of residential areas, as well as. employees head to their workplace, but it suffers from a major weakness in terms of infrastructure due to its narrow territory, its many bends and the spread of potholes, which constitutes a danger for its users, which requires urgent intervention by the authorities concerned. to remedy the situation.
