A hard blow for Walid Regragui before facing the Central African Republic

The problems of Walid Regragui, the coach of the Moroccan national team, continue to worsen at the level of the defensive line, which increases the complexity of his task during the upcoming matches of the “Atlas Lions”.

Regragui has been dealt a blow after it was confirmed that Moroccan defender Chadi Riad would be sidelined for up to three months. The Moroccan coach failed to fill the void left by Shadi Riad’s absence in the last two matches before the player’s medical reports confirmed his long-term absence.

Regragui will have to find a suitable replacement to play alongside Nayef Akrad, at the heart of the Moroccan national team’s defence, next October, to compensate for the absence of Shadi Riyad.

Regragui has encountered major problems in the midfield of the “Atlas Lions” defense, during the last two matches against Gabon and Lesotho, in the qualifiers for the final phase of the next edition of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Walid Al-Regragui is working to correct what can be corrected in the defense line, which has led him to give the opportunity to a group of players in this position, the most recent of which are Younes Abdel Hamid, the French defender of Saint-Etienne, and Abdelkebir Abkar, the Spanish defender of Deportivo Alaves.

The Moroccan national team will face the Central African national team next month, which paves the way for the return of defenders who were absent from the “Atlas Lions” battalion in previous matches, including Sami Mayi, a defender for Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb, and Jawad Al-Yamiq, a defender for Al-Wahda of Saudi Arabia.
