Traffic at the Bab Ceuta border crossing has returned to normal after a short period of closure for security reasons following attempted assaults by young people of different nationalities wanting to immigrate to the other side.
The Spanish authorities, in coordination with their Moroccan counterparts, decided to close the Bab Ceuta crossing for approximately two hours, while reinforcing and intensifying the security presence, as is the case in the cities of Fnideq, M’diq and Ceuta.
After about two hours of closure, and as soon as Moroccan security took control of the situation and got thousands of illegal immigrants out of the border post, it was opened for passage.
Unidentified pages, some of them run from Algeria, had flooded social networks with calls for a massive attack on Moroccan security and an incursion into Ceuta. However, intelligence and the intervention of the Moroccan authorities made it possible to confront this campaign with the arrest of a large number of figures of the “movement”, including those from neighboring countries in North Africa and sub-Saharan Africa.
