The use of social housing in Belgium involves Moroccans owning real estate in the Kingdom

A report from the Belgian Ministry of Housing reveals the presence of Moroccans owning real estate in their country of origin and benefiting from social housing in Belgium.
The Flemish Minister of Housing, Matthias Diependaele, clarified that there were 482 cases of social housing beneficiaries in Belgium owning real estate in their country of origin, in particular in Morocco, Turkey and Italy.
157 cases have been discovered in Morocco, 233 in Turkey and 56 in Italy, since the start of investigations into the social housing file in Belgium.
Belgian law prohibits anyone benefiting from social housing from owning real estate abroad, which constitutes a flagrant violation of the conditions of access to social assistance programs. »
