Moroccan player Hakim Ziyech, star of the Turkish club Galatasaray, has received much praise from the Moroccan street, following his clear position affirming his solidarity with the Palestinian people.
Ziyech’s “My Stories”, which he published last night, Friday, attracted great interest and made headlines in newspapers and websites.
The post came as a turnaround, as Ziyech went from a player facing criticism from Moroccan fans for refusing to give teammate Ibrahim Diaz the opportunity to take a penalty in the last game against Gabon, to a popular star celebrated after declaring his absolute support for the Palestinian cause.
Hakim Ziyech said in a tweet posted on his Instagram account: “Let’s make one thing clear! To hell with the occupation and all the other countries that support this type of behavior.
The Moroccan national team star added in another message: “My last message was also addressed to the government of our country, which supports the genocide, and to all other countries that support this. Shame on you, that’s enough.”
The Moroccan public reacted strongly to Ziyech’s position, praising him warmly, while a small group felt that the Moroccan national team player had made a mistake by directly accusing the Moroccan government, at a time when the Kingdom was showing its absolute support for the Palestinian people.
Moroccan supporters posted hundreds of tweets on social media, praising Ziyech’s position, who did not hesitate to show his support for the Palestinian people, and denounced the enemy on several occasions.
The player returned, a few hours after publishing the second tweet in which he attacked the government of Morocco and the rest of the countries, to delete it, settling for the first tweet, after the great controversy it caused.
The Moroccan star has shown his support for the Palestinian cause, repeatedly denouncing the brutal aggression, and celebrated the Palestinian flag with Galatasaray fans months ago.
