A “chicken meal” caused mass poisoning of around 44 students at the restaurant of the National Institute of Posts and Telecommunications in Rabat on Sunday evening, which led to the transfer of the injured to the Ibn Sina emergency room to receive the necessary care.
The injured suffered severe stomach cramps after eating “starchy chicken” for dinner, which triggered a state of alert within the institute, as the similarity of the symptoms experienced by the injured reinforced the hypothesis of exposure to food poisoning, which required their transfer to the hospital to receive the necessary medical care.
Necessary assistance has been provided to those affected as 34 of them have been discharged from the hospital after their condition improved, while 10 of them are still under medical observation.
At the same time, an investigation has been opened into this incident to discover the circumstances and surrounding circumstances, pending the publication of the results of laboratory analyses aimed at determining the causes of the poisoning suffered by the students of the aforementioned institute.
