+FIFA’s annual club competition will feature five matches, including separate intercontinental competitions

Al Ain will host Auckland City in the opening on September 22, 2024

The final will take place in Qatar on 18 December, two years to the day after the 2022 FIFA World Cup™ final.

The Council Bureau unanimously took several key decisions regarding the FIFA Intercontinental Cup™, FIFA’s annual club competition, which will bring together the champions of the six confederations in an exciting new format featuring separate intercontinental titles.

The FIFA Intercontinental Cup 2024™, which will consist of five matches, will begin on 22 September and conclude on 18 December 2024. The first two matches will be held in the home countries of the teams and the remaining three will be held in Qatar.

Starting in 2024, for the first time, multiple teams will be able to play a FIFA competition at home, with home advantage going to the highest-ranked club participating in the first two matches. This will give more fans the opportunity to watch their club play in a FIFA competition.

In Match 1, 2023/24 AFC Champions League winners Al Ain (United Arab Emirates) will host 2024 OFC Champions League winners Auckland City (New Zealand) on Sunday, 22 September 2024.

A trophy will be on the line from Match 2 onwards: the winner of the FIFA Africa-Asia-Pacific Play-Off will travel to Cairo to challenge the 2023/24 CAF Champions League winners Al Ahly (Egypt) on Tuesday, 29 October 2024, for a chance to lift the FIFA Africa-Asia-Pacific Cup.

Match 3, officially known as FIFA’s “Derby of the Americas,” will take place on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, and will feature 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup winner Pachuca and the eventual 2024 CONMEBOL Libertadores champion, who will be announced on November 30, 2024.

On Saturday, December 14, the winners of Matches 2 and 3 will compete for the FIFA Challenger Cup (Match 4) and a place in the final.

Finally, on 18 December, Qatar National Day and two years to the day after the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ Final between France and Argentina, the FIFA Challenger Cup winner will face 2023/24 UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup Final (Match 5).
