Heba Press / Oujda
Air Arabia has launched new routes to improve air connectivity to the east nationally, and the new entry of Air Arabia aircraft at Oujda-Angad Airport would give further impetus to air connectivity to the east. ‘East.
According to a press release from Air Arabia, a copy of which was received by Heba Press, through 03 travel flights that the company will organize on a weekly basis, this process promises to advance and improve the level of economic and tourism exchanges between the region and the capital of the Kingdom.
Thanks to this new step, adds the report, the Eastern region has taken a major step in strengthening flights, since these lines were created thanks to the efforts of the Eastern region council, which ensured the support from the company to secure these lines, and also thanks to the coordinated mobilization of authorities and other stakeholders at the regional level.
.
This initiative will see the light of day soon, according to the same communication, after the recent signing of an innovative agreement with Air Arabia aimed at securing regular flights between Oujda Angad airport and Rabat airport.
This strategic advance is part of a global vision carried out jointly by actors and stakeholders at the regional level with institutions and stakeholders at the national level. It is a vision that seeks to achieve two objectives: on the one hand, it aims to stimulate air traffic, whether passengers or freight, and to stimulate it further, and on the other hand, it seeks to make the East a preferred tourist destination. for a large number of tourists and a multi-sectoral development pole.
According to an official source, these new flights will be operated via planes that can accommodate 174 passengers, with a promotional price estimated at 350 dirhams. The Oujda-Rabat line offers three weekly flights, adapted according to the seasons. Winter flights will be scheduled on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, from October 27 to March 28. The three flights will depart alternately, i.e. 3 flights from Oujda-Angad airport and 3 return flights from Rabat-Salé airport. The summer season, which runs from March 28 to October 27, will maintain this rhythm with six weekly flights, with a slight modification of their days, since they will be on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
This new agreement confirms the great desire to harmonize with the progress made at the national level by 2/2, which ensures that the Eastern region in turn fully benefits from the available growth and development opportunities that benefit to all regions of the Kingdom.
The implementation of this initiative and the launch of new flights will begin upon its approval during the ordinary October session of the regional council.
It is part of a vast program of structured initiatives aimed at advancing the Eastern region and achieving a development dynamic contributing to the overall development of Morocco, in full harmony with the High Royal Directives.
It should be noted in this context that the airport infrastructure of the East, which has three airports, including two international airports, has gradually begun to establish itself as an essential lever for attracting visitors and promoting the economic development of the region. According to the latest figures published by the Directorate of Financial Studies and Forecasts of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the first seven months of 2024 recorded a significant increase in passenger traffic in Nador (+3.9%) and Oujda (+10.5%). ) airports, compared to the same period last year. This is a convincing indicator of the influence and increasingly central role that this strategic infrastructure has become.
