Former Italian League star Andrea Capone has died aged 43, as his body was found at a five-star hotel in Cagliari on Sunday morning.
Italian reports said he died from head injuries after an apparently accidental fall, and Cagliari released a statement describing the player as “a young man always known for his professionalism, dedication and passion.”
Capone wore the number 10 jersey worn by legend Gianfranco Zola at Italian club Cagliari.
Zola, the Chelsea star, spent a spell with Cagliari from 2003 to 2005, and his shirt number was later cancelled.
But two years later, Capone had the honor of wearing the number 10 jersey of the club and he participated with the team in 113 matches, scoring 12 goals.
