Fan riots stop ‘Madrid derby’ between Atletico and Real Madrid

The match between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, which took place at the Civitas Metropolitano stadium, as part of the eighth day of the Spanish League, was interrupted due to the unrest of the local fans.

The match was stopped in the 68th minute after Real Madrid took the lead, as Atletico Madrid fans threw projectiles at Belgian Thibaut Courtois, the Royal team’s goalkeeper.

Both teams left the field in accordance with Spanish Football Federation rules, which state that players from both teams must be removed from the field in the event of a crowd riot.
