France: A French MP indicted for the offenses of “aggravated fraud and attempted fraud” and “forgery and use of forgery”.

Paris LFI MP Sophia Chikirou was indicted this Tuesday in particular for “aggravated fraud” in the affair of Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s campaign accounts during the 2017 presidential election

The elected representative of La France insoumise was therefore indicted for aggravated fraud and misuse of corporate assets as part of the investigation into her party’s campaign accounts for the 2017 presidential election.

The magistrates of the Paris judicial court suspect Mediascop, its communications consulting company, of having overcharged certain services during the presidential campaign of Jean-Luc Mélenchon in 2017. As a reminder, in 2018, the National Commission of Campaign Accounts and political financing (CNCCFP), then the financial intelligence unit Tracfin had sent reports to the Paris prosecutor’s office. He opened a preliminary investigation in April 2018.

We will have to wait until February 2022 to see justice increase the prosecutions against the association l’Ere du peuple with the addition of the offenses of “fraud and attempted aggravated fraud” and “forgery and use of forgery”.
