Yesterday, Thursday, October 3, the administrative court of the city of Fez decided to suspend the execution of the decisions to dismiss 5 members of the Sefrou collective council, taken during an extraordinary session held last week. The five members were fired for repeated absences.
Among the five members whose dismissal decisions were suspended are 3 councilors belonging to the Popular Movement Party, the Justice and Development Party, and another who is not politically affiliated, in addition to two members belonging to the Party of Istiqlal and the Environment and Sustainable Development Party.
The five aforementioned members have already filed an urgent legal action to stop the implementation, as well as a legal action to appeal the same decision. While a stay of execution was decided in urgent cases, the examination of appeal cases was postponed until October 10.
The dismissed members resorted to the administrative judicial system in search of justice, considering that the dismissal decisions were arbitrary and illegal, and that they did not have the opportunity to defend themselves in accordance with what is stipulated in Article 77 of the law governing local authorities.
