Despite the great efforts made by the Royal Gendarmerie in the Chtouka Ait Baha province of the Agadir Regional Gendarmerie Command, through its operations to combat the phenomenon of human trafficking (legal immigration) or drug trafficking, in particular on the coast extending from the “Takad” zone south of Agadir to the Ait Noumr zone, this represents a logistical challenge for the Royal Gendarmerie, auxiliary forces, local authorities and personnel of the army.

During a field visit to “Heba Press” in order to conduct an on-the-ground examination of the areas invaded by drug traffickers, it was discovered that they have started a new tactical approach, represented by exploitation of the geography of the region, which is characterized by the multiplicity of unpaved roads in the region, characterized by sand plateaus or lowlands among the others. High altitudes and small, unsupervised beaches facilitate the entry of speedboats, which are inflated directly on the beach using exhaust gases. cars and four-wheel drive vehicles of the most expensive brands like “Toyota and Land Cruiser”, making it impossible to access certain points between the beach of Sidi Rasli and Sidi Boufdail without cars of the same type that the smugglers now have .

This was also evident during our visit to the region, which has become attractive to international drug traffickers, after their journey from the coast of El Jadida, where smuggling took place three years ago. We noted the weakness of logistics in the interest of the region. The Royal Gendarmerie and the local authority, which constitutes an obstacle to the siege of smugglers and their criminal activity. Sources in the region told us that the pace of smuggling has recently increased on the southern coast of Agadir, after the coast was emptied of its traditional products. fishermen who reside there, which has contributed to the spread of the phenomenon of smuggling in all its forms in these areas in the face of the logistical deficit experienced by the security authorities.

Will the Gendarmerie High Command act to resolve this problem, especially since its members in the region are making great efforts to combat these phenomena, “international drug trafficking and the movement of human beings? “, in addition to the crimes that have recently spread in the region, but the lack of capabilities, including four-wheel drive vehicles, night surveillance mechanisms and others, prevents them from achieving their goal.
