A seventy-year-old resident of the town of Berkane received a first warning for feeding cats on the main street, and if he does it again he will be fined.
According to well-informed sources, the person concerned feeds stray cats daily in his residence in the Hassani district of Berkane, and even one of the neighbors provides him with food to feed them due to his destitute state.
The warning he received, a copy of which is available on the Heba Press website, indicates that under regulatory law no. 14-113 relating to groups, in application of royal decree no. 855-15 -1 – taken on 20 Ramadan, corresponding to July 7, 2015, specifying the application of decree no. 157 78-2 of 11 Rajab 1400 (May 26, 1980), according to which the conditions under which the measures aimed at establish security, ensure road and health safety, and the preservation of public health are automatically implemented, and on the basis of municipal resolution 80/1 of April 10, 1980 relating to the municipal health system and on the basis of Tax Resolution No. 126 of 06/10/2024, and the inspection visit by the staff of. the Health Conservation Service, accompanied by a representative of the local authority in the fourth administrative annex of the place of the subject of the complaint, found that you were feeding cats on the main street, causing damage and inconvenience to neighbors.
Therefore, adds the warning decision, and based on the laws currently in force in the field of health preservation and environmental preservation, we ask you to immediately and urgently stop feeding the cats to the address mentioned above and to clean the premises.
I also inform you that if you do not respond as soon as possible to what is asked of you in this warning, you will be required to pay a fine of 1,000 dirhams for each cat in accordance with chapter 6.8 for public health violations of the resolution n°06/ 10/2014 Tax n°126 of 06/10/2024.
