National road No. 8, in the province of Ifrane, is the subject of a major project aimed at widening and strengthening its road section extending over a length of 15 kilometers, passing through the center of Oued Ifrane. The total cost of this project is 53.3 million dirhams, the duration of the work having been set at 17 months, with delivery planned by the end of 2025.
This stretch of road is one of the vital routes that experiences heavy traffic, with traffic estimated at around 5,000 vehicles per day.
Its repair is expected to contribute to improving traffic efficiency and reducing road accidents, in addition to its role in strengthening economic activity in the region. The latter is characterized by rich agricultural resources, which makes this project necessary to support local development.
Furthermore, this project is expected to contribute to strengthening the tourism sector in the region, considered an important destination for environmental and natural tourism, particularly due to its proximity to the Ifrane National Park.
In recent years, National Road No. 8 has seen numerous other extension and reinforcement projects on different sections, with the aim of improving road safety and facilitating traffic.
In the Ifrane region, significant progress has been recorded in the work of the first section going from Azrou to regional road 7206, passing through the center of Sidi Addi, while the work of the second section, which passes through the center of Sidi Addi, Oued Ifrane, are starting.
