Appointment of Hicham Rahil as director of Mohammed V airport in Casablanca

The National Airports Office announced the appointment of Hicham Rahil to the position of director of Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca.
Raheel holds a doctorate in computer science and applied mathematics from Hassan II University of Casablanca, as well as a national master’s degree in “Engineering and improvement of transport and logistics systems”.
Raheel has more than twenty years of experience within the National Airports Office, where he held several senior positions. He previously headed Nador Airport and managed the affairs of the control tower department of Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca, as well as the operations department of the same airport. , in addition to its management of Benslimane airport.
Raheel’s appointment comes amid the rapid development of the airline industry, while seeking to ensure efficient and secure baggage management in line with international standards.
In this regard, the office has initiated the implementation of a major project to rehabilitate and modernize baggage handling equipment.
The new area for handling air and transit baggage, covering an area of approximately 3,000 square meters, has been equipped with a modern technological system that includes the latest baggage security monitoring equipment.
The system consists of two conveyor lines equipped with explosive detection systems, where “empty” baggage is directed to the transport vehicle of the next flights, and in case of suspicion, the baggage is sent to a third equipped line an X-ray scanner to examine “suspicious” baggage.
This system is capable of processing 1,500 bags per hour, ensuring speed and efficiency in baggage processing and helping to improve compliance with flight schedules.
The office also improved the baggage delivery system by equipping a special area for towed vehicles, which provides greater processing capacity and reduces waiting times. The baggage claim area is now equipped with 10 trays, 7 of which have been replaced with advanced equipment to improve capacity and. reduce waiting time.
As part of improving the traveler experience, the National Airports Office intends to launch a complete project to renovate the baggage claim room, with the aim of offering a modern and comfortable space to travelers.
The office also seeks to reduce wait times, improve processing steps and improve the passenger experience at Mohammed V Airport, with the hope of extending these improvements to all airports in the Kingdom.
These measures are part of the Office’s strategy which aims to modernize the infrastructure of Mohammed V airport to support the continued growth of passenger traffic, in preparation for the challenges of 2030 and to strengthen its position as a hub of the international air transport.
