As part of the exercise of its missions linked to the success of the advanced regionalization workshops and the strengthening of the role of the region as a major player in territorial development, an ordinary meeting was held on Friday November 8, 2024, at the headquarters of the association. headquarters, in the presence of the president and heads of regional councils, dedicated to deliberating on strengthening the role of the Association of Regions of Morocco in stimulating discussions on the activation of the Advanced Leadership series, playing the role of interface and coordination, and promoting and strengthening international relations and partnerships.
This meeting was also devoted to examining the progress of preparations for the second national debate on advanced regionalization, which will be held on December 20 and 21, 2024 in Tangier, as well as participation in the World Summit on climate during its 29th session in Azerbaijan.
Regarding the strengthening of the role of the association, all the presidents stressed their intention to engage in the new strategy which aims to create an effective dynamic to achieve the objectives set by the association, while putting the emphasis on the role of regional councils in the economic, social and environmental fields. development, as well as coordination in order to advocate in favor of territories to public authorities, in particular through the production of opinions and suggestions.
Regarding the preparation of the second national debate on regionalization, the presidents proposed a number of topics that should be addressed and integrated into the scientific aspect of the debate, including work, gravity and climate.
This meeting was also the occasion during which ladies and gentlemen, heads of regional councils, expressed with pride the achievements made by the Kingdom of Morocco under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God grant him the victory and support, represented by the growing international recognition of the Moroccanness of the Sahara and the broad support for the autonomy initiative.
The content of the high royal speech, delivered by His Majesty on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of the Green March, was also welcomed by those present, in which he highlighted the role of the Moroccan community living abroad as a lever for nation building. , expressing their full availability to contribute to the implementation of the royal directives contained in the royal speech at the regional level.
It was also expressed the full involvement of the heads of regional councils in the activation of the directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI at the level of parallel diplomacy, and their effort to improve and develop the mechanisms of parallel diplomacy within the framework of decentralized cooperation between the two countries. Moroccan regions, regions of African and foreign countries and non-governmental institutions to defend the first national cause by all available means and capacities.
