Danny Jordan, a name which has never and for more than three decades carried the name of Morocco in its heart, having always advocated an indescribable hatred against the Kingdom of Morocco and who had gone so far as to want to integrate the Polisario within of the Continental Football Body
Danny has always been surrounded by suspicion in South Africa although he continually tries to claim innocence but this time, the mask has fallen and Danny Jordan, the president of the South African Football Federation (SAFA), who led South Africa’s campaign to host the 2010 World Cup with fraud and corruption when he was managing director of the organizing committee, was arrested yesterday Wednesday and charged with using of SAFA resources for personal use in connection with a fraud and theft case totaling R1.3 million (equivalent to approximately $72,000), according to police. During his first appearance in court in Johannesburg, Jordan denied the charges.
Police said in a statement that the charges against Danny Jordan relate to using FA resources between 2014 and 2018 to further his personal interests. The charges include hiring a private security company for his personal protection and hiring a public relations firm without board authorization.
Some media outlets have suggested that Jordan hired the PR firm after his reputation was damaged in 2017, when a singer and former MP accused him of sexually assaulting her 25 years ago, allegations he denied.
Police confirmed that Jordan, who took office as president in 2013 and was re-elected for a third term in 2022, was arrested following an extensive investigation by the Crime Investigation Unit (CCIU) of Johannesburg.
Gronie Helio, the federation’s chief financial officer, and businessman Trevor Neethling, who runs the telecommunications company mentioned in the case, were also arrested, and all three have denied the charges against them.
