Mauritania aims to benefit from the experience of the Moroccan Agency for Evaluation and Quality Assurance of Higher Education and Scientific Research, taking into account the expertise accumulated by the Kingdom in this area, underlined Friday in Nouakchott, the director of the Mauritanian Higher Education Quality Assurance Authority, Mohamed Lemine Haless.

The Mauritanian Authority is a newly created entity (2021), while the Moroccan Agency has accumulated significant experience since 2014, said the Mauritanian official, in a statement to MAP, following a visit to Mauritania experts and researchers from the Moroccan Agency, during which they led several workshops in the field of quality assessment of higher education.

From this point of view, he added, the Mauritanian side is convinced of the importance of the results resulting from cooperation with Morocco in this area, noting that the progress made by the Kingdom in different areas, including scientific research, make it a model to follow for Africa and the Arab world.

Speaking at the closing workshop held on Friday in the Mauritanian capital, attended by the Mauritanian Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Yacoub Ould Moine, and of Islamic Affairs and Original Teaching, Sidi Yahya Ould Cheikhna Ould Lemrabott, as well as the Moroccan ambassador in Nouakchott, Hamid Chabar, the acting director of the Agency, Fatima Zahra Alami, highlighted the partnership between the two authorities, which reflects the depth of historical and close ties between the two brotherly countries, notably their level of cooperation in the field of higher education.

She explained that the dynamics experienced by the sector of higher education, scientific research and innovation in Morocco, thanks to the high royal guidelines aimed at making Morocco a continental hub in this area, opens promising prospects for even to promote cooperation and partnership between the Mauritanian authority and the Moroccan Agency, particularly in the field of evaluation of higher education establishments, with a view to building a university ecosystem focused on academic excellence and equality of opportunity.

A delegation of researchers, experts and advisors from the Moroccan Agency, led by Ms. Alami, has been staying in Mauritania since last Monday to supervise training workshops in order to allow the exchange of expertise and experiences within the framework of the institutional evaluation of higher education establishments in Nouakchott, Nouadhibou and Zouerate (capital of the Tiris Zemmour region, in the north of the country).

Furthermore, a cooperation agreement was signed last Monday in Nouakchott between the two authorities, which constitutes an update of the one signed between the two parties in Rabat in March 2022.
