Moroccan striker Sofiane Rahimi equalized for his Emirati team Al Ain in their match against Uzbekistan Pakhtakor Tashkent (1-1), in the sixth round of the AFC Elite Champions League. The goal came in the 49th minute after a special save by the goalkeeper, saving his team from another defeat in the competition.
With 18 goals, Adel Rahimi equaled the record for the top scorer in the history of the Al Ain club in the AFC Champions League with his old and new systems, tied with the Emirati Omar Abdul Rahman and the Ghanaian Gyan Asamoah. The Moroccan international now has a golden opportunity to monopolize this number in the seventh and eighth rounds.
Despite Rahimi’s goal and remarkable brilliance, Al Ain are struggling to retain their Asian title, as they sit in eleventh place with just two points, before concluding the group stage with two matches against Al Rayyan of Qatar and Al -Shorta from Iraq.
It is worth noting that last season, Rahimi excelled exceptionally, as he led Al Ain to win their second Asian title by scoring 13 goals and providing 6 assists in 13 matches, including two decisive goals in the match return from the final against the Japanese Yokohama Marinos. .
