The Senegal national team seemed to have lost its punch during the last CAN in Ivory Coast where it left the competition with bitterness and no one believed that the Lions of Terenga were going to experience a dark future, uncertain with turbulence within the Group…Or! This was not the case and the wisdom of the Senegalese leaders finally won the day because, precisely, coach Aliou Cissé was kept at the head of the Terenga Lions national team.
This is because the executive committee of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) confirmed the former captain of the Terenga Lions in his position, despite the premature elimination of Senegal in the round of 16 of the CAN 2023, by the future winner Ivory Coast.
The executive committee of the Senegalese Football Federation, which judged that progress had been recorded in the game of the Senegal national team, decided to maintain the former captain of the 2000 generation in his position. Aliou Cissé will therefore stay until 2026 and will have the difficult task of qualifying his country for the 2026 World Cup and the 2025 CAN in Morocco.
