The feasibility study of a new road line project linking Agadir to Inezgane, Ait Melloul, Dchira and Drarka is the subject of numerous criticisms from activists.
Although the project aims to provide sustainable and environmentally friendly means of transport to improve transport infrastructure, many questions have been raised about the absence of the “tram” option, especially since the The region has more than one and a half million inhabitants and is considered a leading tourist destination.
Critics believe that the successful experience of the “tramway” in Rabat and Casablanca over the last 12 years has not yet been generalized to other cities like Agadir, which poses the problem of equity in public transport.
Many believe that relying on the “busway” will not be enough to resolve the worsening transport crisis in the city, which is preparing to host large demonstrations, highlighting the need to invest in the “tramway” as a more efficient solution .
On the other hand, municipal authorities defend the “Amal Way” project as a modern means of transport that will help reduce traffic jams and improve the quality of transport.
