Under the sparkling lights of the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, the CAF Awards 2024 will not only celebrate the glories of African football. The ceremony, which will take place Monday evening, also promises to be an ode to the cultural and artistic wealth of the continent, carried by exceptional artists such as Diamond Platnumz, icon of Tanzanian music, and Dystinct, Moroccan prodigy with singular.
An evening at the intersection of sport and art
While the prestigious evening will pay tribute to the best players, coaches and teams of the past year, it will also provide a vibrant stage for creators who shine the artistic soul of Africa. From 7:00 p.m. local time (6:00 p.m. GMT / 8:00 p.m. in Cairo / 9:00 p.m. in East Africa), Marrakech will become the scene of a dialogue between the Beau Jeu and the muses of music and dance.
Diamond Platnumz: the voice of a generation
A true living legend, Diamond Platnumz alone embodies the power and elegance of Bongo Flava, which he enriched with a touch of Afrobeat to conquer the international scene. A multi-talented artist, he distinguished himself as a singer, songwriter and visionary entrepreneur. Founder of the Wasafi empire – which includes WCB Wasafi Record Label, Wasafi Bet and Wasafi Media – he has become an essential reference by surpassing the extraordinary milestone of 900 million views on YouTube, a feat never before achieved by an artist residing in Africa.
With an impressive discography, marked by the albums Kamwambie (2010), Lala Salama (2012), A Boy from Tandale (2018) and First of All (2022), Diamond Platnumz has been able to redefine the standards of contemporary African music, while establishing himself as a charismatic and committed figure, collaborating with major international brands.
Dystinct: the alchemy of sounds and cultures
Alongside this legend from Tanzania, Dystinct will bring the freshness and originality of his music, a subtle blend of R&B, Afrobeat and Arab influences. This young Moroccan talent, who perfectly embodies the union between tradition and modernity, has attracted a wide audience thanks to his albums Mon Voyage (2021) and Layali (2023), which have earned him numerous awards. His prestigious collaborations, notably with the French singer Franglish, confirm his status as a rising star on the international scene.
An artistic spectacle in apotheosis
But music will not be the only thing vibrating under the majestic vaults of the Palais des Congrès. Guests will also have the pleasure of discovering an orchestral performance by the Trio Andalou, a group renowned for its refined interpretation of Mediterranean sounds. Added to this will be the captivating voices of the female collective Women in Jazz, as well as a dazzling choreographic show by Adil Nakach, a Hip-Hop and House dancer from Casablanca, whose talent transcends borders.
A prestigious evening for African excellence
The CAF Awards 2024 will not only be a tribute to football, but a true living picture of Africa in all its splendor: from sporting exploits to artistic masterpieces, all orchestrated in a sumptuous setting and under the amazed gaze from all over the world. Marrakech will be, for one evening, the beating heart of a continent united by its passion, its talent and its creative genius
