The Consul General of Senegal in Dakhla, Babou Sène, formally denied the information conveyed by social networks and repeated by certain media according to which Senegalese candidates for irregular emigration are stuck in the Moroccan desert.

“This is unfounded information that I formally deny,” said Mr. Sène on Friday in a statement to the MAP agency, stressing that “the Senegalese authorities are aware that there is a lot of manipulation in the networks social”.

Senegalese candidates for irregular emigration, who are generally saved by the Royal Navy, “are always housed in reception centers in Dakhla and not in tents in the desert,” he assured.

The Consulate General of Senegal in Dakhla is informed by the Moroccan authorities as soon as a canoe is rescued by the Royal Navy and immediately dispatches a team to the site to observe the conditions of stay of candidates for irregular emigration, he said. underlines.

“The Senegalese are very well received in Morocco,” said the Consul General of Senegal in Dakhla.

The diplomat welcomed, in this regard, the efforts made by the Moroccan authorities to welcome in “good conditions” migrants from sub-Saharan African countries in general and from Senegal in particular, noting that during the year alone Last year, more than 300 Senegalese were hospitalized in the Dakhla hospital for a period ranging from 3 days to two months at the expense of the Moroccan authorities.

Mr. Sène also welcomed the reception and residence conditions of Senegalese nationals in Morocco, noting that thousands of his fellow citizens reside in the Kingdom in excellent conditions, with residence permits and decent work. .
