The organization and association of “Women for Africa” launched a new project in the Lake Martica region in the city of Nador, aimed at improving the economic rights of women by integrating them into the culture of seaweed.
The project, which receives financial support from the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), is implemented in cooperation with a group of local and international partners, including the Las Palmas College of the Canary Islands, the college Nador multidisciplinary and Nador and the National Marine Development Agency.
The project aims to empower women in the cooperatives “Future of Maritime Glossary” to participate in the Sea Algae farm, because an attenuated farm will be equipped on an area of 16 hectares in Lake Martica. The project also includes improving scientific research in the field of algae agriculture and the development of new technologies to improve the quality of production.
The project includes three main stages, which is to support the “future” cooperative in algae cultivation, scientific research and algae biotechnology education and the development of sustainable value chains for algae products.
Professional exercises for women in cooperation will also be organized in areas such as financial management, swimming to work in the environment of marine agriculture and the validation of algae.
The project should contribute to creating new employment opportunities and improving the skills of women in the economic and environmental fields, which supports the local economy and contributes to the realization of sustainable development in the region.
