Regarding those who wish to obtain a visa: new increases and additional conditions for Schengen visas

With summer approaching, the demand for European Schengen visas increases, as many Moroccans prefer to spend their summer vacations in European countries like Spain, especially with the offers of some low-cost airlines that attract those looking for destinations abroad.

In this regard, the consular services of several countries, mainly Spain, Italy and France, receive tens of thousands of visa requests, making obtaining an appointment to submit the file almost impossible in reason for the emergence of appointment brokers.

At the same time, the European Union has decided to increase the fees for Schengen visas which must be paid with the documents in the file, increasing to 90 euros from the month of June instead of 80 euros currently, knowing that they did not exceed 60 euros not so long ago.

According to the “Schengen Visa Info” platform, the decision to increase Schengen visa fees comes after the European Union published its draft proposal to increase Schengen visa fees on February 2, 2024, based on a press release from the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs which warned citizens of countries requiring a Schengen visa that from June 11, 2024, they will have to pay higher fees.

The European Commission has adopted a decision to increase the fees for short-stay Schengen visas (type C visa) by 12% worldwide, with this increase applicable from June 11, 2024.

The new Schengen visa fees will be 90 euros for adults and 45 euros for children aged 6 to under 12, according to the same platform specializing in everything related to Schengen visas.

The same source also indicated that countries that have not cooperated in accepting the return of their citizens residing illegally in the European Union will have to pay visa fees of 135 euros or 180 euros, depending on the Council decision.
