With summer approaching, the demand for European Schengen visas increases, with many Moroccans preferring to spend their summer vacations in European countries like Spain, especially with the offers of some low-cost airlines that attract those looking for destinations abroad.

In this regard, the consular services of several countries, mainly Spain, Italy and France, receive tens of thousands of visa requests, making obtaining an appointment to submit the file almost impossible in the face of to the emergence of appointment brokers.

At the same time, the European Union has decided to increase Schengen visa fees which are paid with the application documents. From June, these fees will increase to 90 euros instead of the current 80 euros, knowing that they did not exceed 60 euros a short time ago.

The decision to increase Schengen visa fees, according to the “Schengen Visa Info” platform, came after the European Union published its draft proposal to increase Schengen visa fees on February 2, 2024, based on a statement from the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, warning citizens of countries requiring a Schengen visa that from June 11, 2024, they will have to pay higher fees.

The European Commission has adopted a decision to increase short-stay Schengen visa fees (type C visa) worldwide by 12%, this increase will apply from June 11, 2024.

The new Schengen visa fees will be 90 euros for adults and 45 euros for children aged 6 to under 12, according to this same platform specializing in everything related to Schengen visas.

The same source also indicated that countries that have not cooperated in accepting the return of their citizens residing illegally in the European Union will pay a visa fee of 135 euros or 180 euros, depending on the council’s decision.
