Tomorrow, start of the 6th edition of the International Water Polo Tournament in the city of Rabat: Promote Water Polo through the training of Coaches, at a time when women will be present at all levels


Under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, May God Help Him, the Royal Moroccan Swimming Federation in collaboration with the Union Sportive des Cheminots du Maroc (USCM) are organizing the 6th edition of the International Water Polo Tournament of the city of Rabat, from May 29 to June 1, 2024 under the theme “Promoting Water Polo through Coach Training”.

This large-scale international event is the result of collaboration between the Royal Moroccan Swimming Federation (FRMN), the Union Sportive des Cheminots du Maroc (USCM) and the Hungarian Embassy in Rabat under the aegis of the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports.

The International Water Polo Tournament of the City of Rabat is the only event of its kind organized in Morocco in this discipline. This tournament aims to develop the

Water polo in Morocco through a program of meetings bringing together the best clubs in Morocco and foreign selections, invited for the occasion. It also aims to popularize this sport among the Moroccan public in general and the youngest in particular in order to extend its practice and increase its visibility.

This year, and for the second time in a row, women will be present at all levels of the event, whether at the level of the new Club Steering Committee, the refereeing staff or even the participating teams.

This initiative reflects the desire to promote the practice of women’s water polo and to encourage women to become more involved in this sport.

The enthusiasm for this edition is already palpable, with the participation of more than ten renowned international teams from Hungary,

Croatia, Italy, Spain, France, Canada and Tunisia.

This event is a unique opportunity for Moroccan players to face teams from different backgrounds and to measure themselves against high-level opponents.

The FRMN is convinced that this event will be a success and hopes that this edition of the Tournament will help to further promote this sport and encourage greater participation by women in the years to come.

The participation of women in the 6th edition of the International Tournament demonstrates the growth of this constantly evolving discipline. Moreover, and following the previous editions which also took place successfully, several national clubs like the USCM of Rabat, the Salam Natation Fès or the WAC of Casablanca, have set up training schools. learning Water Polo in order to introduce the youngest, and to extend the practice to our country by supporting the development strategy initiated by the Royal Moroccan Swimming Federation (FRMN).

Moreover, and in the same spirit, this Tournament will see the participation of

Special Olympics Morocco, public utility association, which works to integrate children with mental disabilities through sport, through an exhibition match which will pit them against the Water Polo school team under 12 years old. of the USCM.

The Moroccan public will certainly be there for this celebration, and will fully appreciate the performance of the different athletes!
