The mission of the Multi-Hillionaire Elon Musk at the head of the department responsible for improving the efficiency of the United States government (DOGE) ended on Friday.
The owner of Testa and network X was hired by President Donald Trump as a special government employee for a period of 130 days with the aim of reducing unnecessary spending and reforming the federal bureaucracy.
“In reality, Doge is just beginning,” Musk said at a press briefing with Trump at the Oval Office. The Department method should become a “lifestyle” in the public service, he maintained.
The Department was able to reduce government spending by nearly $ 150 billion, Musk said, who promised to save some $ 2,000 billion in the long term.
In addition to reducing spending and the fight against “corruption”, DOGE has also been responsible for reducing the federal wage bill.
During the four months of his mandate, Musk, which was a team of young technology gurus, supervised the dismissal of some 121,000 civil servants. Tens of thousands of others have accepted the voluntary starting offer.
Public contracts, donations and subsidies of the federal government have been at the head of DOGE’s targets, just like a multitude of programs, reflection centers and federal agencies.
The most protruding of the federal structures referred to by the Department was the American Agency for International Development (USAID), which was simply closed, its 10,000 jobs removed.
Having the performances of the multi-millionaire, President Trump said that Musk is “one of the greatest business leaders and innovators that the world has ever produced”.
