The Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, holding the title, won, on Sunday, the male final of Roland-Garros, by beating the Italian Jannik Sinner in five sets (4-6, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 7-6), at the end of a match of rare intensity on the court Philippe-Chatrier in 5h 30min of play, the longest in the history of the Internationals in France.
Led two zero rounds and faced with three match balls in the fourth set, the world number 2 overthrew the situation to win its second consecutive coronation in Paris, its fifth title in Grand Colam.
Already titled at the US Open in 2022, in Wimbledon in 2023, in Roland-Garros in 2024 and the Australian Open in 2025, the 22-year-old Spaniard resisted the assaults of the world N.1, dominator at the start of the game.
Indeed, after having conceded the first two sets, Alcaraz gradually increased its level of play, saved three match balls at 3-5 in the fourth round, then torn off two decisive tie-breaks in the last two sets.
With this victory, Alcaraz becomes the youngest player in the Open era to win five Grand Chelem titles in three different areas. He also has the advantage in his direct confrontations with Sinner (7 victories at 4)
Among the ladies, the American Coco Gauff (22), the second world player, defeated the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka (N.1) on Saturday, winning her first title at Roland -Garros and her second Grand Chelem.
