The infrastructure of the Jrassif Regional Hospital has witnessed extensive repair and maintenance work in recent days. This initiative aims to improve the quality of healthcare services and enhance the capacity of the region’s sole healthcare facility.
Informed sources confirmed that the ongoing works include repairs to the emergency department, the rehabilitation of hospital wards, and the equipping of some vital facilities with new medical equipment. Efforts are also underway to improve reception and waiting conditions for patients and their companions through the refurbishment of reception areas and the provision of essential equipment previously lacking.
This step comes in response to repeated demands from media outlets and civil society in the region, which repeatedly called for urgent intervention to address the significant shortage of medical staff and essential equipment at the hospital. Residents hope that this work will mark a real turning point, restoring confidence in the local healthcare system.
Despite welcoming the ongoing repairs, citizens are still awaiting parallel steps to address the shortage of human resources, especially in the specialties of surgery, resuscitation, and obstetrics and gynecology. The works alone will not be sufficient unless accompanied by logistical and human support to ensure the continuity of high-quality services.
Local actors have urged the Ministry of Health and regional authorities to conduct a field visit to the hospital to assess the current situation and understand its real needs, similar to what happened in hospitals in other cities that benefited from emergency repair and rehabilitation plans.
The question remains: will these repairs succeed in restoring the Jrassif Regional Hospital’s former glory and improving treatment conditions, or are they merely temporary solutions that do not meet the aspirations of the population?
