The Sultan Moulay Slimane University (USMS) of Béni Mellal topped the ranking of the best Moroccan and African public universities in terms of patent filings in 2023.
With 21 patents filed with the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property, the USMS participates in the “Knowledge Transfer to Africa” initiative of the European Patent Office.
The patents cover various fields such as robotics, renewable energies, construction materials and even chemistry. The University aims to double this figure in 2024, to reach more than 42 patents filed.
