HIBAPRESS – Youssef Akdad
The escape of "General Nasser El Djin," the former director of internal security, to Spain exposes the extent of the serious violations experienced by Algerians in the absence of justice and the spread of systematic repression practiced by the Kabranat regime.
This development comes as a new warning to the international community about the deteriorating human rights situation, and the need for urgent intervention to save prisoners of conscience, foremost among them the writer Boualem Sansal, from the hell of Algerian prisons. The urgent need is being raised today for an international campaign led by human rights organizations and international media, to exert broad pressure on the Algerian authorities to lift the siege imposed on the Algerian people, and to put an end to the sham and fabricated trials that are used as a political weapon to silence dissenting voices. The suspicious silence of international organizations raises many questions: Is it the result of bribes offered by the Algerian regime to buy positions, or an undeclared complicity, or an institutional inability to confront the escalating violations? Whatever the reason, the continued ignoring of this dangerous situation consecrates Algeria's isolation and exposes the falsehood of its official discourse on human rights. The current human rights situation in Algeria portends a greater escalation, especially with the tightening of the grip by the team of Chengriha and those around him on society, which necessitates urgent international mobilization before it is too late.
