The city of Agadir is preparing to close the Adrar International Stadium, starting next week, immediately after the Hassania Agadir match against Difaâ Hassani Jadidi, for the fourth round of the professional league.
This decision comes in the context of the intensive preparations that various Moroccan cities nominated to host the African Cup of Nations finals are experiencing, scheduled for the beginning of next year, where the large sports complex is expected to undergo a series of restoration and technical works. Informed sources revealed that the closure step came with a direct recommendation from the authorities responsible for managing the complex, with the aim of preparing the stadium according to the required continental standards, especially after the recent visit by a committee belonging to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) at the beginning of this week. The same committee recorded a number of technical and organizational observations, most notably the current condition of the stadium's pitch, which did not meet expectations, as it demanded the need for urgent intervention to repair the natural grass, to be ready before the start of the continental football celebration. Some other shortcomings were also observed at the level of the players' changing rooms and the conference hall, although they were described as "simple" compared to the technical observations. In light of these inspections, the company in charge of managing the complex rushed to schedule a comprehensive intervention during the temporary closure period, to ensure that all the stadium's facilities comply with the specifications stipulated by CAF, which emphasizes in its recent reports the need to improve the quality of infrastructure in the host stadiums, especially in the aspect related to grass and the equipment of the basic facilities.
