HIBAPRESS – Rabat
Moussa Al-Arif, a member of the Rabat city council, announced his resignation from the council membership, a step he described as "not easy" but one that came as a result of an "ethical and realistic conviction" related to the need to listen to citizens, especially young people.
Al-Arif explained in a resignation letter addressed to the Mayor of Rabat that his decision came after his observation of "the worsening suffering of the inhabitants of the marginalized neighborhoods," and the challenges faced by young people, including unemployment and the deterioration of basic services in the fields of education, health, transportation, and employment, highlighting that this raises a question about the usefulness and effectiveness of public policies. Al-Arif pointed out that he chose to stand with the youth, considering that his place is not in the position of a spectator or a silent person, but rather in a position of "practical solidarity," stressing that political responsibility primarily requires serious listening to citizens who express their demands "through peaceful means, demanding dignity and social justice." The resigning member emphasized that his step is a "symbolic cry" aimed at confirming that the time has come to open a "serious and responsible national dialogue," giving citizens a central place at the heart of public policies and contributing to restoring the lost trust between young people and state institutions.
