Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, President of the MAAUN University Group, revealed that he has received inquiries from Moroccan investors regarding the Canadian University in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria.
Gwarzo said in a statement during the opening of the African Entrepreneurship Summit in Luanda, Angola, that Moroccan investors contacted him to inquire about the possibility of participating or investing in the university, but he clarified that he is not interested in any sale, stressing that his goal is to build a lasting legacy in the education sector. Gwarzo added, according to the Nigerian website "Daily Trust", that the reports circulating in some media outlets claiming that he sold the Canadian University in Nigeria to foreign investors for $50 million are untrue, considering that these rumors aim to "tarnish" his reputation and long-term contributions to the education sector. Gwarzo added that the Canadian University in Nigeria has not yet begun its academic activities, and that he is committed to developing education in Nigeria and Africa through the four universities he founded, including the Maryam Abacha American University of Niger, the Maryam Abacha American University in Nigeria, and the French-British International University. The President of the MAAUN University Group also revealed that there are efforts to establish another private university in Guinea-Bissau within his vision to expand access to quality education across the African continent, stressing the need to verify information before publishing it, warning of the dangers of misinformation that may affect the reputation of educational institutions and potential investors.
