HIBAPRESS – Shafiq Anouri
The Moroccan Consumer Rights University today, Saturday, demanded that the government work on improving the health and education systems, in addition to activating the roles of regulatory institutions, in its interaction with the protests that have been taking place in a number of cities in the country since last Saturday.
The Moroccan Consumer Rights University said in a statement, a copy of which was received by the "HIBAPRESS" website, that some Moroccan cities witnessed "social protests, independent of the civil means concerned with guiding citizens, and took from social media networks one of the most important means adopted in the mobilization directed primarily to the angry youth regarding the level of management and administration of public services, especially the education and health sectors."
The "Consumer University" added that its structures "present across the Kingdom of Morocco are concerned with listening to the general Moroccan consumers and receiving their complaints in this regard, directly or remotely, and addressing them through professional counters open throughout the working days of the week for this purpose, in accordance with the provisions of the law related to consumer protection."
The Moroccan Consumer Rights University condemned in its statement "all violations and acts of sabotage of public and private facilities," expressing "its commitment to the importance of listening to the consumer and the need for the latter to also adhere to forms of peaceful expression regarding the harm caused to him, with regard to the quality of products and public services."
It stressed "its constant keenness to follow consumer affairs in order to serve quality, achieve continuity and guarantee the condition of decent living for all Moroccan consumers without discrimination or exclusion," stressing "the need to provide hospitals that guarantee the right to health for all citizens."
It considered that these hospitals should be "of the required quality in terms of the available equipment and the sufficient and qualified human resources, in addition to the urgent importance of enacting public policies capable of supporting the needy groups, in order to enable them to access treatment and medicine on reasonable terms."
The "Consumer University" affirmed its commitment to "the need to provide a school that achieves quality at various levels and tracks, without discrimination, while linking education programs to the requirements of the labor market," reminding "all concerned parties of the importance of listening to the consumer in accordance with the provisions of Law 31.08 determining measures to protect the consumer."
The university called for "activating the contents of Law 54.19 as a charter for public utilities, which defines the principles and rules of good governance related to the management and administration of public administration and territorial communities, and activating the roles of regulatory institutions," confirming at the end of its statement that "real change begins with the individual, and is achieved through conscious behavior within society."
