HIBAPRESS – Rabat
The Political Bureau of the Progress and Socialism Party has renewed its solidarity with the legitimate demands of the ongoing youth protests, expressed peacefully and with refined civilized expressions.
The party affirmed in a statement that these protests, in their peaceful and civilized form, constitute a vital breath that must be urgently transformed into political action and alternative public policies that deal positively with these demands, within the framework of a new generation of reforms, in a way that meets the expectations related to the effective access to the right to basic public services, especially education and health, and those related to work, dignity, social justice, spatial equity, and the fight against corruption, and the expansion of the space of democracy and the exercise of rights and freedoms. In this context, the Political Bureau affirmed that the best way to deal with the youth movement is listening, dialogue, embrace, and opening channels for public discussion. In this regard, the party values the public media's initiative to open the door to contribute to free, transparent, and frank discussion with young people. The party also expressed its aspiration that this best practice will turn into a permanent behavior for the national media in all its types and components, directing a high greeting to all social media that initiated interaction and created bridges of connection and communication with the youth movement. The Political Bureau commended the actions of the Socialist Youth Organization and a number of young party figures, in a combative, responsible, and constructive manner, amidst this peaceful movement. In another context, the party affirmed, in the context of what it has continuously pointed out throughout the recent years, that the current government has clearly contributed to the exacerbation of the situation, through its arrogant behavior and provocative speech, and its claims of achieving extraordinary and unprecedented achievements, in stark contrast to the difficulties experienced by all segments of society, which the government has denied and ignored for four years. On this basis, and in the face of the momentum of these peaceful protests, whose message has arrived in an unequivocal manner, the party considered that it is vital to change the orientations, approaches, and public policies, in a way that consolidates the democratic and developmental path of our country, and frees the energies of Moroccan youth, and in a way that achieves a positive, actual, and tangible impact of these policies on the daily lives of all citizens, a direction that the party considers that the current government is completely incapable of pursuing. The party also affirmed, in the context of positive interaction with the expressed youth demands, that it is important to take initiatives and concrete steps that contribute to achieving the desired political breakthrough, by working to close all detention files related to social movements or expressing opinions, including the follow-up related to the current peaceful youth protests.
