HIBAPRESS – Rabat
The Moroccan Liaison Office in Tel Aviv successfully intervened to release Moroccan citizens Aziz Ghali and Abd al-Azim Ben Darawi, who were arrested days ago by Israeli authorities following their participation in the "Freedom Flotilla" heading to the Gaza Strip.
The Moroccan citizens are expected to be deported to Turkey tomorrow, after completing administrative procedures and diplomatic coordination between the Moroccan and Israeli sides through the official channels.
In this context, the National Human Rights Council praised the efforts made by the Moroccan diplomacy to ensure the release of the citizens and secure their safe return, commending the Moroccan authorities' interaction with this humanitarian file.
The Council, along with advocates in the Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions, had called for the release of all detainees who participated in the humanitarian aid flotilla, and to ensure their safety and safe return to their countries, while condemning the attack on the flotilla.
Amina Bouayach, the Council's president, closely followed the developments of the situation of the Moroccan citizens, in coordination with an international organization and national and foreign partners and actors, in order to protect their rights and ensure their rapid release.
