An informed source told HIBAPRESS that the Attorney General at the Court of Appeal in Taza directed a charge of premeditated murder against a former military man, following his involvement in a horrific murder in which a 12-year-old child was the victim. The case was referred to the Criminal Court of First Instance, which is expected to begin his trial at the beginning of next month.
The same source explained that the details of the crime date back to the afternoon of Thursday, October 9th, when a person living in a state of homelessness suddenly and violently attacked a student in the "Afriwato" neighborhood of Taza, hitting him with a sharp glass bottle while he was on his way to his educational institution after the midday break, which caused a fatal injury and a tear in his arteries, leading to his death moments after the incident.
Immediately upon learning of the incident, elements of the Judicial Police and local authorities moved to the scene of the crime, where they launched field investigations that enabled the arrest of the suspect within a short period, who was placed under custodial measures by order of the Public Prosecution supervising the investigation.
The same source indicated that the accused had previously served in the ranks of the Royal Armed Forces before his duties were terminated as a result of his suffering from a mental illness, after which he lived in a state of homelessness and moved between several cities, before settling in Taza, arriving from Oujda a few days before committing the crime.
This incident left a wave of condemnation and deep sorrow among the residents of Taza, who demanded increased monitoring and care for people in a state of vulnerability or psychological disturbance, to avoid the recurrence of such tragedies in the future.
