On Friday morning, October 17th, the elements of the provincial judicial police in the city of Beni Mellal were able to dismantle a criminal network operating in dangerous areas including kidnapping, rape, theft, and the promotion of hard drugs. This was done in a tight security operation conducted in close coordination with the services of the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, and under the direct supervision of the Wali of Beni Mellal security.
The operation resulted in the arrest of seven people, including a minor who is 16 years old, while it turned out that three of the detainees had previous criminal records. This operation came against the backdrop of investigations carried out in a case related to the entrapment and detention of two female students, with one of them being subjected to sexual assault by the main suspect, who was arrested in the rural area of "Sidi Jaber".
Investigations revealed that the latter is the subject of a national search warrant for his involvement in previous cases related to the promotion of hard drugs, which opened the door for expanding the scope of the search, which later resulted in the arrest of the rest of the network elements in different areas of the outskirts of Beni Mellal, specifically in both Bazaza, Beni Ayatt, and Sidi Jaber.
During the conducted search operations, quantities of prohibited substances and equipment used in criminal activities were seized, including:
145 grams of cocaine
A significant quantity of cannabis spikes
White weapons, mobile phones, and two motorcycles
Two cars, one of which is suspected of being obtained through theft
A small amount of money that is likely from the proceeds of criminal activity
The adult suspects were subjected to custodial detention, while the minor was placed under legal supervision, within the framework of the judicial investigation supervised by the competent public prosecution, with the aim of identifying all those involved and revealing the remaining circumstances and details of this case.
This effective security intervention confirms once again the effectiveness of coordination between the various security services, and reflects the continuous efforts made by the Beni Mellal security directorate in order to combat crime and ensure the safety of citizens.
