HIBAPRESS – Casablanca
The primary criminal court of Ain Sebaa, in Casablanca, sentenced an authority agent working in the Ben Slimane province to one year in prison and a fine of 500 dirhams for his participation in the "Generation Z" protests.
The sentence came after the person in question was arrested during demonstrations in the city, where he was accused of "unlicensed unarmed gathering" and "insulting the judicial police by making false statements." The defendant's defense denied his direct connection to the protest, clarifying that he was present at the scene by chance during a family visit, considering that his prosecution contradicts the provisions of the Moroccan constitution, especially Article 29 which guarantees freedom of peaceful demonstration. The case has attracted public attention, and the defense team is expected to continue its efforts to challenge the ruling, amid escalating debate over the state's handling of protest movements.
