The Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries in Tunisia has decided to exclude the Moroccan market from the new date export season (2025-2026), which officially began on Monday, October 13th.
According to a statement issued by the Joint Professional Association of Dates, the decision came after a meeting of its board of directors held on October 10th, where it was agreed to allow the export of dates to various global markets except Morocco, without clarifying the reasons behind this surprising measure. It is worth noting that Morocco was the first customer for Tunisian dates during the past season, as Tunisia's total exports of this product reached about 127.2 thousand tons, of which the Moroccan market acquired about 18 percent, according to data from the Tunisian National Observatory of Agriculture, which raises questions about its potential economic or logistical background.
