The Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in Agadir witnessed, on Friday, October 24th, the installation ceremony of Professor Nabil Haminah as the new president of Ibn Zohr University, in an official ceremony chaired by Azzouz El Midaoui, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, in the presence of Said Amzazi, Wali of the Souss-Massa region, the governor of the prefecture of Agadir Ida Outanane, and Karim Achengli, the president of the regional council.
The ceremony was also attended by the Consul General of France in Agadir, representatives of the local authorities, elected bodies and parliamentarians, in addition to a number of university presidents and academic institutions, representatives of judicial bodies and decentralized services, and a group of research professors, students and representatives of the media. In a speech on the occasion, the minister congratulated the new president on the royal confidence he received, wishing him complete success in performing his duties at the head of the university, calling on him to continue the path of development and innovation that has distinguished Ibn Zohr University in recent years, through investing in human capital and strengthening the position of the Souss-Massa region as a leading scientific and developmental hub, in line with the royal directives aimed at improving the quality of higher education, scientific research and innovation. The appointment of Professor Nabil Haminah to lead Ibn Zohr University comes to constitute a new turning point in the path of this prestigious academic institution, which plays a pivotal role in supporting regional and national development. The new president is considered one of the well-known academic and administrative competencies, as he has accumulated rich experience in managing national university institutions, most notably his presidency of Sultan Moulay Slimane University in Beni Mellal, and his former management of the National School of Applied Sciences in Kenitra. He has also actively contributed to university digital transformation projects and the development of academic and administrative management systems. It is expected that this new phase will open promising horizons for Ibn Zohr University, by consolidating its position as a lever for scientific research and innovation, and a fundamental pillar in achieving sustainable development in the Souss-Massa region, and enhancing its radiance at the national and African levels.
