The commander of the Libyan National Army, Khalifa Haftar, warned on Sunday that the political crisis in the country has turned into a threat to Libya's unity, stressing that this crisis has led to the absence of the rule of law and the fragility of the state's prestige.
Haftar added that his forces will continue their efforts to build a safe and stable state, free from terrorism and extremism, stressing that the army is "doing well" despite attempts by his opponents to undermine it. Haftar also expressed his appreciation for international and local efforts to resolve the Libyan crisis, but stressed that the people are the ones who should bear the responsibility for finding a solution to the crisis themselves, stressing that realistic solutions require the concerted efforts of the nation without waiting for others. The National Army commander also affirmed that the military institution will remain a fundamental pillar in protecting the state and achieving stability, while continuing to address the security and political challenges facing Libya.
