On Wednesday, October 29, 2025, in Rabat, the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, received François Provost, the Executive Director of the Renault Group, in the presence of Mr. Ryad Mezzour, the Minister of Industry and Trade.
The meeting was an opportunity to discuss mechanisms for strengthening the group's industrial system in Morocco, and contributing to the development of the automotive industry sector in the Kingdom, which has become a real engine for growth and industrial acceleration, thanks to the insightful royal vision. The Head of Government affirmed on this occasion that our country continues, under the wise royal leadership, to consolidate the Kingdom's gains in the automotive industry in partnership with leading global groups, highlighting that the national bet lies in the opening of this industry to modern technology, to contribute to enhancing the sector's competitiveness internationally, and valuing Moroccan competencies. Following that, the Head of Government presided over the signing ceremony of an investment agreement addendum between the Kingdom and Groupe Renault Maroc, by Ryad Mezzour, the Minister of Industry and Trade, and François Provost, the Executive Director of the Renault Group, which will strengthen the existing partnership between the two parties, and will enable the creation of 7,500 direct and indirect jobs, in addition to contributing to strengthening the mutual commitments aimed at making the development of the automotive industry system in the Kingdom sustainable. Under the agreement, Groupe Renault Maroc will embark on a new phase of industrial development, characterized in the short term by the renewal of its leading car models, and in the medium term, by strengthening the industrial system of Renault in Morocco, as it will launch a new group of electric cars by 2030, in parallel with the modernization of industrial facilities, production lines, and raising the skills of human resources, which confirms the group's confidence in the national industrial platform. The agreement addendum opens the door to launching a structured development plan, which extends between the years 2025 and 2030, which aims to continue modernizing the industrial system of the Renault Group in the Kingdom, through the establishment of an engineering center specializing in research and development activities before the end of 2025, and strengthening the Kingdom's industrial ambition by producing cars with hybrid and electric engines in Morocco. It is worth mentioning that Groupe Renault Maroc manufactured more than 413,000 cars last year, and exports constituted 90 percent of the local production of "Made in Morocco" cars to more than 68 countries.
