HIBAPRESS – Abdelatif Baraka
A video widely circulated on social media, showing a young man driving a motorcycle at an excessive speed in the streets of Agadir, sparked a wave of condemnation among internet users and city residents, due to the reckless behavior that poses a real threat to road safety.
The video, which the owner published on his Facebook page, documents moments of flagrant violation of the law, showing the driver traveling at a speed far exceeding the permitted limit within the urban area on the road to Agadir port, which is set at 60 kilometers per hour, especially in the sections of Iligh roundabout and the port roundabout, known for the presence of a fixed radar to monitor speed.
Followers believe that publishing such clips is not limited to violating traffic laws, but also extends to indirect incitement to recklessness and blind imitation, especially among young people and adolescents who may consider such behavior as "heroism" or "a challenge," ignoring what it may cause from tragedies and fatal accidents.
A number of citizens and community activists in the field of road safety demanded the intervention of the Public Prosecution and the opening of an investigation into the incident, considering that the publication of the video is a flagrant challenge to the law and warrants accountability, so that it serves as a lesson for anyone who dares to boast of reckless behavior on the public road.
This incident recalls the need to intensify monitoring within the urban area of Agadir and to intensify awareness campaigns about the dangers of speed, to protect the lives of drivers and pedestrians alike, and to consolidate a culture of respecting traffic laws, as a collective responsibility that concerns everyone.
