HIBAPRESS – Youssef Akaddad
Algerian media continues to follow a policy of misinformation and lies regarding the Moroccan Sahara issue, despite the international consensus and increasing support for the Moroccan autonomy proposal. The historic decision of the UN Security Council, issued on October 31, 2025, affirmed Morocco's sovereignty over its Sahara and the international community's recognition of the autonomy option, but it did not change the behavior of the Algerian media, which still promotes lies and misleads its followers, trying to delude the public that the matter is subject to reversal or debate.
This media approach brings to mind the match between Algeria and Cameroon in the 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifiers, when the Algerian media repeated the phrase "The match is repeating," in an attempt to soften the loss and mislead the fans. And today, after the international UN decision, Algeria remains alone in the world in continuing to spread misleading news, as if it is trying to deny the clear and internationally recognized facts. The reality is that the international community's support for the Moroccan Sahara reflects the success of Moroccan diplomacy on all levels, while the Algerian media proves once again that it prefers exaggeration and falsification over conveying the facts, which makes the public inside a victim of systematic misinformation. This stance is not just journalistic errors, but a continuous strategy to hide the truth and convince citizens that the situation is reversible or retractable, while the whole world now recognizes Morocco's sovereignty and the autonomy solution as the only UN option. In the end, this reality confirms that the Algerian media is experiencing a credibility crisis, as lies are no longer finding global resonance, while the Moroccan truth about the Sahara remains clear, supported by international decisions and indicators of reality on the ground.
